Dr. Martens Men's Warwick 9 Boot, Dark Brown, 8 M UK/9 M US

Product Description

Rooted very much in a vintage work boot inspiration, we have taken these perennially popular boots and upgraded them with a new leather called Bigfoot, a rich leather with real substance, it is soft to the touch and has a subtle antiqued finish. This is a Goodyear-welted product. The upper and sole are sewn together, not merely glued, like many footwear constructions. This, together with our Z welt-stitch and heat-sealing process, makes it unique to Dr. Martens. Products with a plain welt are still stitched, but the constructional thread is not visible. This air-cushioned sole is hard-wearing, with good abrasion and slip resistance.

From the Manufacturer
Dr. Martens is the stuff of legends. It all began near Munich, Germany in 1945 when Dr. Klaus Maertens injured his foot in a skiing accident in the Bavarian Alps. To make walking easier during the healing process, he designed a shoe with an air-cushioned sole. Using old rubber tires, he constructed soles that had air trapped within closed compartments. He showed his prototype to his engineer/inventor friend, Dr. Herbert Funck, and together they decided to develop and produce the shoes. Not only did the shoe solve the doctor's immediate problem, but it also started to sell well in Germany. By 1959 the two decided that they needed a company to produce and distribute the shoes, then called Dr. Maertens, in other parts of the world. At first, many manufacturers rejected the concept of an air cushioned sole as a short-lived gimmick. However, the R. Griggs Group, located in the village of Wollaston in England, decided to go along with the idea by creating the first work boot with the revolutionary sole. On the first of April 1960, the first cherry red eight-eyelet work boot was produced and named 1460. To sell the brand name better in England, the name was anglicized to Dr. Martens. The range was branded AirWair and the rest is history.

4nice boots, sizes are off
By Ditchraneman
I got a pair of these for Christmas. Very nice looking boot. But I wear a 12, and while these are listed as 12's they run big. I usually rely on the euro size (46) and these are marked 47. The generic comparison chart used as a "size" chart frustrated this process. so, nice boot, bad sizes. Now, we have to wait to cycle these through the Amazon jungle.

5Great boots for my motorcycle and around town
By P. Lafemina
I like these doc marten's. The dr.'s boots without lining can be uncomfortable but this lining (in a neat tartan design) is very soft and smooth. I usually wear a US 9 (UK8) but find that unlined doc marten's are a bit big for me in that size and going down a size is too small. But the lining makes up for that and the US9 (UK 8) is perfect. The leather is supple and broken in and does not have that usual dr. marten extreme stiffness that takes a long time to break in. The laces are substantial and will last longer than the usual flimsy ones. They look cool too. I use them for my motorcycle but just bought another pair to keep clean and nice and wear around town. Functional, cool, old-school work boot that doesn't try to be to hip, which is exactly why it is.
