I bought the Rocky gore-tex boots based on price, as there weren't a lot of reviews on them. Got the boots quickly from the seller, but it didn't take long to realize they were very uncomfortable. I have been hiking for over fifty years, and have gone through many pairs of boots from many manufacturers, but the Rocky boots were the worst. The rivets holding the lace hooks bite into my ankles as there is virtually no padding, like most other boots have. The toe box was also rather large, so my toes rattled around in the space. There is also very little cushioning in the soles, so the "ride" is rather harsh when walking. I added a pair of gel insoles to try and soften the soles. I have walked a few miles in the boots over various terrain, hoping they would get better, but the lack of interior padding for the ankles and soles never got better. It was painful having the rivets poke my ankles with each step. I am getting rid of these boots and have already bought a replacement pair of Solomon's. I recommend you spend a few dollars more and buy a better pair of boots.

These boots are going on year 3 for me and they're just starting to get to the point where I should replace them. I never treated these boots or anything, just wore them straight out of the box. I LOVE these boots. 100% waterproof, light and comfortable. Hiking, fishing, hunting, I do everything in these boots. I WILL be buying another pair of these.

The description for these boots stated full grain leather, so i assumed they would be smooth leather uppers, but they were nubuck, which I don't find lasts very long before the texture wears off and then the boots look very scruffy.
The tongue on these boots is also very padded, almost too much so it is difficult to fully tighten the top laces.
Otheriwise they seemd fairly well-made and sturdy, and should be good for days hikes or light backpacking
